On May 20-29, 2011 you can explore Budapest through a creative and challenging hunt for artworks.

Just go to the first location (to be announced) – find the artwork and decipher the clue. It will lead you to the next artwork, which could be a mural painting or a temporary sculpture. It should take you around 2 hours if you catch the drift…

You must find all the clues and collect their numbers to crack open the chest at the final location. Happy hunting!

Urban Treasure Hunt Budapest is organized as a collaborative non-profit project between Rumkammerat and local Hungarian artists Angélika Fekete, Dóra Jánosi, Dénes Fekete and Marci Bojti.

The silk-screen studio and design shop Printa Akadémia contributes to the project as does Brody House Art Szalon and guest house.

Goose liver is one of the peaks of Hungarian gastronomy. It is not a Hungaricum yet, but most of the world is in love with this savory. Chef Peter Buday (on the picture) will be hosting the event. It will take place in the Buda Castle at Savoyai Jenő Square.

Főzde Beer Festival

May 5th, 2011

The festival will be held on 13-14 May, 2011 in Budapest, in Mikszáth Kálmán Square, the middle of the so-called Castle-district. We aim to showcase the unknown achievements of Hungarian craft-beer that has been largely overlooked until now, due to Hungary’s primary classification as a wine-country. Our not-so-secret goal is to start a beer-revolution in Hungary, to make good and real beer available to everybody.

From all corners of the country, 10 microbreweries will bring more than 200 barrels of craft-beer to Budapest. You will have a chance to taste Korty, the most famous Hungarian beer-specialty, fermented with Tokaji Aszú, usually only on tap in Miskolc and Prague, or the 10% strong black beer brewed with blueberry on the southern parts of Alföld, or the Millet-Beer, brewed to double gravity especially for our Festival. There will be some beer-premiers on Főzdefeszt as well – the premier of Grabanc IPA – the first Hungarian IPA, and Keserű Méz (Bitter Moon), the first Hungarian hop-lager, a substyle just invented to refer to a specially hopped light unfiltered lager – Hungary’s answer to American IPA.

Our special guests from abroad include the renowned Pivovarsky Dům from Prague, with their festive green beer brewed with nettle, and Slovakia’s No1 craft-brewery, Kaltenecker from Rozsnyó with a rauchbier among others. We shall also introduce Hungarian audience to Gösser’s most distinguished, hiding beer-specialty, Gösser Zwickl, which is a beautiful unfiltered barleybeer.

Food shall be served by the eight participating pubs, and one of Hungary’s most exciting gastro-blog, Malackaraj.
